Regulatory Reform
As a Republican, I was honored to serve Governor
Pete Wilson on the Regulatory Reform Roundtable Task Force in 1996.
My team enabled the Governor to repeal 3900 outdated regulations and
to simplify over 1700 more as documented in Executive Order W-144-97. This practical approach in reducing
regulation helped Gov. Wilson undo much of California’s business
unfriendly regulation to attract business to California.
Our State
has faced many challenges in the past and we are meeting these
challenges, and at the same time confronting challenges to build
prosperity for our state and a more compassionate society. The
crisis we are facing today is much greater than that of 1996.
However, I am confident that, by working together, we will overcome
these challenges as we did in 1996.
